Chris Malachowsky

Chris Malachowsky is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Florida, where he earned his BS degree in electrical engineering in 1983 before co-founding NVIDIA. His pioneering work in the field of computer graphics has had a profound impact on the technology industry. As a senior executive at NVIDIA, Malachowsky has played a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategy and driving innovation. His contributions to the field of accelerated computing have been instrumental in advancing AI, machine learning, and high-performance computing.

The UF-NVIDIA Partnership

In 2021, Malachowsky donated $25 million for the HiPerGator supercomputer at UF the fasted supercomputer at a university in the United States. Now, the University of Florida is investing $24 million in an upgraded NVIDIA supercomputer. “The University of Florida has been a pioneer in providing AI infrastructure to its students and making that infrastructure available across its curriculum and throughout the region,” Malachowsky said. “With this new HiPerGator NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD with DGX B200 systems, UF will provide students and faculty with an exquisite tool to supercharge AI research, discovery, and innovation across many disciplines — helping train the next generation of AI leaders.”

By leveraging Malachowsky’s support and NVIDIA's cutting-edge technology, UF aims to solidify its position as a leading research institution and prepare its students for the future of technology. The new HiPerGator supercomputer, powered by NVIDIA's latest hardware and software, will enable researchers to tackle complex challenges and make significant breakthroughs in various fields.
